Interior Design is a creative process between the interior designer and the client. The process is by nature, changeable and therefore requires a flexible approach. I initially offer a one hour appointment to explore whatever areas of your home you would like to discuss. Quite a lot can be covered in an hour, but if there are many rooms it may be necessary to schedule a further appointment. This time allows an initial foray into what needs to be done and throws up ideas and some concrete choices to begin working on together.
I am able to bring sample boxes of fabric and trimmings with me in a range of the main colour palettes – blue, green, pink, red etc so that there are plenty of inspiring options to choose in terms of cushions, curtains, blinds etc. For the most part, it is usually possible to choose fabrics and trimmings, from the samples that I have, but occasionally this is not the case and I may then have to source fabrics from elsewhere. This of course would take time and perhaps involve a trip to the fabrics houses which would involve an extra charge for my time.
Included within the hourly fee, I spend a small amount of time after the meeting ordering a number of key samples for you based on our discussions and prepare a printable schedule of the ideas that have been discussed for you to keep.
If a client decides to go ahead with any of the ideas that have been discussed, I would then prepare a full quote for approval. I try to keep the process as flexible as possible so that there is always room to change ones mind or look at other options.
Above all the process should be co-operative, rewarding and fun!
